CRITT MDTS possess an industrial platform using the "Cold Plasma" technology for surface modification or coating purposes.

Equipment
Cold plasma reactors :
  •  A 7m³ reactor ( Ø = 1,850m, L = 3m) equipped with a winding/unwinding mechanism enables the treatment of polymer and metal band 1,2m wide as well as volumic pieces

  • high-performance system of quick pumping composed of :
    - piston pump
    - roots pump (3)
    - diffusion pump with cryogenic trap
    - dehydration pump

  •  4 types of present plasma generators :
    - microwave
    - radiofrequency
    - Low frequency
    - ECR and DECRD

 

Cold plasma reactor
  •  Control of injection and distribution of gas permits the creation of oxygen, argon and nitrogen-based plasmas as well as specific gases for coatings (Ar, H2, N2, 02, He, HDMSO, NH3...)

  •  XPS (X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) Technics: chemical analysis of extreme surface
    The maximum depth wich can be analysed is 10 nm. It is possible to enable to set free of interface and substrate problem.
    This technic give information about elementary composition of surface and about atomic binding.
    This technique enables to detect all element except H and He.
    Realisation of depth profile (destructive analysis) enables to study variation of concentration and to have information about interface.

  •  This equipment is controled and monitored by an industrial computer system carrying out complete cycles of treatment with traceability of all treatment parameters

  •  The possibility to receive all analysis materials and plasma characterisation : optical UV and visible spectrometer, mass spectrometer, Langmuir probe, in situ settling speed measurement,...

  •  Different possibilities : evaporation, cathodic sputtering and ion deposits

  •  A room allow to take care of pieces up to 600 mm diameter, 300 mm high and 150 kg
